Why a wager on Bayern is often considered the best bet of the season

German giants Bayern Munich are one of the best teams the world has ever seen. Their institution continues to grow and attract the top names in football, meaning that they are always battling at the upper echelons in Europe. In addition to this, they compete in a rather lifeless domestic league that they have managed to completely dominate, often meaning that they simply canter over the finish line to win. These are the reasons that a bet on Bayern to win the Bundesliga each year is considered one of the most solid wagers in the world of betting.

Bayern started the 2016-17 season at 1/8 in the Bet365 Bundesliga betting, and some inexperienced bettors may believe that staking money on odds this short is a rather pointless venture. However, laying large sums of cash down on the Bavarians to do the business each year is usually a fool proof way to make around a 1/8 return on however much you choose to invest.

Since the turn of the century, Bayern have won the domestic league eleven times out of seventeen. They have won it the last four seasons as well, each time with more than a ten point lead on their closest challengers. The largest gap in recent history was in 2012-13 when the Reds had a lead of 25 points on Borussia Dortmund who came second.

Dortmund enjoyed a fantastic couple of seasons when they won back-to-back titles under J?rgen Klopp, but this was a highly unexpected anomaly. Since then, they have managed to cement themselves as a solid top four club, but Bayern have always had a squad capable of seeing off any of the competition. Star striker Robert Lewandowski has emerged as the league’s top scorer in two of the last three seasons, and they also have the likes of Arjen Robben and Philipp Lamb in their ranks- players who are considered among the best in the world. Moreover, they have attracted the best managers in the world- two-time Champions League winner Pep Guardiola recently departed to be replaced by three-time Champions League winner Carlo Ancelotti.

Taking all these factors into consideration already makes betting on Bayern to win the Bundesliga seem like a tantalising prospect. The reason why it is considered one of the surest bets of the footballing calendar is the fact that no other league in Europe has been dominated so much by one singular club. It’s true that Paris Saint-Germain are now viewed as an unstoppable force in Ligue One, but their dominance only began four seasons ago.

In La Liga, Barcelona and Real Madrid have always scrapped for supremacy, while Atletico Madrid have recently been trying to barge their way in to upset the order. Italy’s Prima Categoria has seen a return of Juventus to the summit, but they always face stiff competition from the likes of Napoli, Roma, Inter Milan, and AC Milan. Leicester’s title win last season has proved just how unpredictable the Premier League tends to be, and no club has managed to retain the title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s resignation from football management.

If Bayern storm to another Bundesliga title this term as they surely will do, it is hard to ignore the mouth-watering prospect of staking a large early bet on them doing it again next season. Bettors who have already jumped on this are looking to reap  the rewards.
